I have triple the treats for you this week. It’s been a long while since I’ve given you a recipe, so this week I’m gonna give you 3! Two today and one as a little special gift the day before Mothers Day.
This week I’ve been taking it easy in the kitchen. Being married to a chef means that time with family is limited to one day per week…so whenever we can catch a free moment we just run out the door and do something fun. This often means that I opt to pick something up really quick for lunch, rather than spend our precious time cooking.
This week it was chinese food. When I was growing up, I was obsessed with shrimp and broccoli. Now, a little older and wiser I question the quality of food from take out joints and I decide where I will allow myself to cut some corners. For me this means I get simple brown rice, steamed veggies and shrimp and then I go home and make my own sauce. Which brings me to recipe #1:
Shannon’s Special Sauce Recipe
(a perfect replacement for sauce found on tofu, shrimp, chicken or beef with broccoli)
Sorry…I’m lacking on a fancy pants name on this one. But, it’s awesome so I’ll just let it speak for itself.
- 4 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 2 tsp low sodium gluten free tamari
- 1 tsp fresh grated ginger
- 4 drops of liquid green stevia (or 3/4 tsp of agave or maple syrup)
- teeny-weeny bit of lime zest
Then…maybe after that I want to sit outside on the deck in the sun with my feet up and have a nice icey cold glass of lemonade. Can you taste it? Not the powdery stuff, the real stuff. Yum.
Here’s my recipe:
Shannon’s Lemonade
- 4 cups of filtered water
- juice of 2-3 lemons (depending on how much juice you can get out of them)
- 8 tsp of maple syrup
- ice
- shake, stir, enjoy.
Now HOLD UP. That’s not all I have for you. There’s one more thing. Seriously, this has changed my life. Do you (like me) have about a million little papers around, in pockets, at the bottom of your purse, etc with To-Do lists written on them? Do you sometimes lose them and then find them a week later and realize that you forgot to pay a few bills, make a few calls? This is me to a T and I feel like it’s a common thing for all busy people to struggle with. I got this little tip a few days ago from one of my favorite business mentors, Laura Roeder and it’s freakin’ changed my life.
It’s called Teux-Deux (pronounced kinda like To-Do, but with a little French twist)
It’s a FREE online To-Do list creator. Say goodbye forever to the little papers and hello to a seriously organized and greener life…no more paper wasted. I’ve set my computer to have it as my home page so I see it every time I turn on my computer. You just make your list and whatever you don’t do will automatically get carried over to the next day. Awesome right? And when you’re done with something, you just simply X it off and it’s gone.
Awesomeness.
Thought you might fall in love with it as much as I have so here’s the link to check it out.
Talk to you soon!
