There are a few things that are just pure “freak out” from a 5-year-old perspective….and the Dentist is one of them. It is for my 5-year-old anyway.
My husband was off today and was going to take her for her cleaning and I had my plans for all the work I would get done.
You see, Tuesday is usually my day to fully engage in my biz with no distractions…and today was dedicated finishing the creation of the Spring Cleanse that so many of you told me you wanted last week! (thank you for the feedback by the way!)
But…today I had to make one of those mommy decision and let it all go for the love of my babes. :)
It became an official decision when I heard her giving herself a pep talk on the couch when she thought no one else was listening this morning. I then knew this needed to be a double duty, both parent event.
Her pep talk went a little something like this: “The first time I had a shot in my arm I cried, but then last time I went I was a big girl and it didn’t hurt so bad, so maybe since the first time I had my teeth cleaned I didn’t like it, this time it won’t be so bad.”
Is that not the cutest thing ever? She cracks me up. I love the little equation she came up with in her head.
The big lesson I learned today was knowing when you need to just let it go (whatever it is for you), because you know what? At the end of the day when everything else fades away, the most important job we have as parents is being there for our kids when it really counts.
The big lesson Jolie learned today: just because something is scary the first time doesn’t mean it will be the second and there is such personal empowerment in charging forth anyway and showing yourself what you’ve got. :)
(Today went great by the way…she now has a very happy, successful memory of the dentist…which I’m hoping with permanently replace her old scary one)

BTW…I will have the Spring Cleanse ready for all of you by weeks end. I’ll send you a shout when it’s done. Probably Friday or Saturday.
AND…Here’s the Sneak Peek for ya I mentioned earlier:
Many of you have asked me over the years what kinds of foods I eat, supplements I take, books I reference, etc. I decided to set up a little somethin for you that will give you a sneak peek inside my pantry and my library. Everything in the food section is pretty universal…although I firmly believe that we all have our own unique bodily make up and need to discover which foods work best for our bodies.
Anything you’d like to try you can purchase from my shop page now. Enjoy! …and know this is just the beginning, I’m no where near done.
