Certified Holistic Health Counselor, food lover and founder of Foodies for Health Shannon Tate-Giordano knows that people who are struggling with dietary restrictions, allergies and health conditions want new food options to delight the palate and gradual lifestyle changes that will affect their future monumentally.
As a holistic health coach certified through Columbia University Teachers College and theInstitute for Integrative Nutrition and a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, Shannon finds the power within her clients to help them transform their lives in ways they never thought possible. Her clients blossom using the tools she provides to alter their outlook or mindset to help them improve their health and energy, lift the burden of food limitations, create a life that truly brings them joy and the balance they desire.
Shannon has a boutique private chef & health coaching service in New York , where works with clients to make life-long changes in nutrition, physical exercise, spiritual practice, balance and fulfillment in areas of work and relationships. Because it has always been her vision and mission, Shannon has recently begun to develop healthy living programs for mothers and women across the globe. To help her clients make healthier choices she takes into consideration the emotional, psychological and physical aspects of these women’s lives and uses her health & life coaching skills, her humor and insight to help them reach their personal goals.
The catalyst for Shannon’s interest in health came when she was a teen and was diagnosed with an ailment that forced her to re-examine her life, which lead her to drastically improving her diet, experiment with different herbs, vegetables and foods high in antioxidants. Her ability to use nutrition and lifestyle changes to improve her physical, emotional and spiritual health, inspired Shannon to help others do the same. When she found out last year that she had developed allergies to gluten, eggs and common mushrooms and that her 4-year-old daughter had Celiacs disease and was also allergic to eggs and dairy she watched their scope of food options shrink drastically. When the struggle of eating with allergies hit home for her personally her quest to make not only great tasting but health promoting food with alternative and new ingredients became an extreme passion and she was determined to share this with others.
“I love the looks on peoples faces when they devour something I’ve made like it’s the best thing they’ve ever eaten and then telling them it contains no sugar, or it’s vegan, or something else they never expected,” says the experienced private chef and nutrition expert.
Shannon’s underlying passion, which has been rooted in all of her life’s endeavors, is helping people. “I think people are very interesting and I love to dive inside with them and hear their stories,” she says. Her experience in managing New York City restaurants, a high-end women’s wear showroom and a Brooklyn-based magazine taught her how to relate to and communicate with different types of people. Three years of studying acting at the American Art Theatre increased her awareness of the human spirit and the different places it takes you emotionally. While food coaching and cooking she listens to and dives into her clients’ stories.
As a freshman in college Shannon sympathetically bought meals for the homeless gathered in New York’s Penn Station on her parents’ credit card. This has now morphed into her career of nurturing people through nutrition and holistic health.
The Long Island-native resides in New York with her husband Dino, a classically trained chef, and daughter Jolie. In her spare time, Shannon enjoys interior design, writing and spending time with her family.
